There are many beaches in Sydney with Bondi Beach being the most famous (to be precise there are seventy surf beaches). This post will be updated frequently when I find more useful information about Sydney’s beaches.
Botany Bay
I am going to start with beaches in Botany Bay because that is where I live. The first walk includes Cruwee Cove Beach, Little Congwong Beach, Congwong Beach, Frenchmans Beach and Yarra Bay Beach.
If you want to see all the beaches I recommend driving and parking at the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Base. From here you can walk down the Cape Banks Firetrail along the coast right down to Cape Banks to see an awesome view of the heads of Botany Bay if you like. Otherwise, you can continue following the Cape Banks Firetrail to the Cape Banks walking track where you pass Cruwee Cove Beach (a secluded beach), Henry Head Lighthouse (which includes WWII bunkers). You can then head down to Browns Rock if you enjoy fishing, otherwise, keep walking towards Congwong Beach (passing Little Congwong – a nude beach if that’s your thing).
This is a great coastal walk in the south-eastern suburbs of Sydney. It suits beginners as it is flat (however it may not be suitable for young children as it is a long walk).
If you are with young children Frenchmans Beach and Yarra Bay are a lot better to walk and swim. The walk is much shorter.
I am going to publish this post as a start to this personal blog but I will continue to update it in the future.
